There is a new version of the UBW Player, one of the excellent Windows Media Player replacement players that supports multimedia file playback, including specific DivX related features.

There is also a new AVI/DivX tag editor appropriately called Total AVI Tags Editor, which allows you to insert author/title/copyright and tens of other tags into your AVI files, which will be displayed appropriately by compatible players (eg. Windows Media Player) during playback. This is perhaps the most complete AVI tag file editor to date, since it also contains support for iDivX and even MID AVI/DivX tag formats.

A couple of new software titles today. Bitrape is a new bit rate and aspect ratio calculator. dEdE divX AutoLauncher is a new DivX auto launcher utility and PVA2DIVX is a German new rip-pack/encoding GUI.

You may have noticed by now that we have just added advertising banners to DivX Digest. While we wanted to avoid having to do this, the current economic situation means we have no choice but to host banners in order to earn enough to pay for essential services such as web hosting. But you have our guarantee that there will never be pop-ups or pop-unders or any of those annoying ads on these or any other web pages Digital Digest produces - we're not that desperate yet :)

There will be a re-release of an old trailer again on the 16th of February (poll closes on the 15th of February), so don't forget to vote for the trailer you want now!!

In terms of software updates, but there is a new bit rate calculator, and for Hollywood+ owners, a new player called HHPlus that is based on DivXPlus, for playing back DivX movies using your Hollywood+. HHPlus aims to fix the many problems and bugs with DivXPlus, and could prove to be the ultimate multimedia player for the H+. There is also a new version of Time Adjuster, a subtitle editing tool for fixing subtitle synch problems, as well as many other problems associated with DivX subtitle files.
