Below are the "Messages for the Day" for November 2002 :

  • Message for 29 November 2002 :
A new version of Knotonīs API DivX Player has been release today. Knotonīs API DivX Player focuses on the simple and straight forward task of playing DivX movies without all those fancy features you probably won't need (hence only the 80 KB file size).

I've also added a new software called DivX Mpeg-X Calculater. This software does bit-rate calculations, but more importantly, it outputs the required DivX 4/5 CLI commands (that you can type into the DivX codec setup section) to make sure the movie you encode comes out at a perfect size. You can even save the settings you used as a file, and share your settings with others.

In late updates, a new version of abcAVI Tags Editor (edits AVI tags, and some other AVI attributes) has been released with a couple of small updates. There is also a new version of the subtitle translating tool, Subtitles Translator.

There will be a re-release of an old trailer again on the 15th of December, and you can vote for the trailer you want now!!

For today, there are new version of the MPEG4ip toolset and player, both compiled and ready for use. MPEG4ip is an open-source initiative to develop a set of MPEG-4 tools and a MPEG-4 player. Both Nic and Koepi have released new compiled binaries of XviD.

I've also updated the articles section by dividing the different language articles into separate pages, since the old articles page was getting too large.

In a late update, a new version of the DVD to AVI conversion GUI (uses MPEG2AVI, VirtualDub and AC3 Decode) DVD to AVI GUI has been released. The update adds the option to choose between 1 and 2 pass encoding.

There will be a re-release of an old trailer again on the 15th of December, and you can vote for the trailer you want now!!

A new version of the subtitle creator/editor/converter, Subtitle Workshop - it supports many subtitle formats. Please refer to the software download page for a list of changes.

Remember that there's not new or re-release trailer this week - trailers are now released for two weeks at a time (used to be just one week, which wasn't long enough for some people to download it all). There will be a re-release of an old trailer again on the 17th of November, and you can vote for the trailer you want now!!

And for those who like stories about copy protected "CDs" (ie. CDs that can't be played back on computers - if you can't play it, you can't copy it, right?), here's an email that shows the true thinking of these record companies.

For this week's Trailer of the Week, I have made available the DivX 3.11 the teaser trailer for Solaris. This week's trailer hasn't been encoded by DivX Digest, and has been submitted to us by BiMb ThE hiMb. And taking another suggestion from BiMb ThE hiMB, trailers from now on will be made available for two weeks, instead of one, to give more time to download them. I'm also now allowing the use of download accelerators such as GoZilla, GetRight, Download Accelerator and FlashGet.

There will be a re-release of an old trailer again on the 17th of November, and you can vote for the trailer you want now!!

Quite a few updates today. First up, going by alphabetical order, is a new version of the AVI analyzer tool, AVICodec. It is followed by a new version of the DVD to DivX encoding tool, DVD-Ripp. A new version of Ecuador's AVI Bitrate calculator has been released, although unlike the title suggests, this software does much more than just bit-rate calculations, including aspect ratio calculation, PCM WAV normalizer and a DivX 5 Pro GAIN spyware disabler. Next up is SubRescue, which is a tool that you can use to "rescue" or repair your subtitle file.

Last up is a new software called WMRecorder, which is a software that will let you record/save Windows Media streams to your hard-drive.

There will be a re-release of an old trailer again on the 17th of November, and you can vote for the trailer you want now!!
